During the pandemic, we’ve seen an uptick in marketing with solemn messaging. However, the reality is that purpose doesn’t have to be sad or dry. As National Geographic sought to mobilize consumers around Earth Day, which occurs this Thursday, April 22nd, they turned to Inspira for help.
The fact of the matter is that people care about the environment, but they’re inundated with negative messaging about the impending effects of climate change. In turn, this messaging leads to feelings of despair and apathy. We saw an opportunity to turn this theme on its head and encourage people to create change by promoting the good. Through this insight, Planet Possible was born.
To kick off the Planet Possible platform, National Geographic will be hosting a first-of-its kind Earth Day Eve virtual concert that leverages Disney’s relationships with renowned musical artists—including Maggie Rogers, My Morning Jacket, and Ziggy Marley, among others—scientists, and other talent. The event, which was officially announced on Good Morning America, is free and will be streamed on both Nat Geo’s website and its YouTube channel at 8:30 PM EST.
In addition to promotion on Nat Geo social accounts, a number of ancillary celebrities and influencers will be drawing awareness to the event by encouraging people to share photos of the places on Earth that positively fuel them on social media.
Once the livestream comes to a conclusion, head on over to Nat Geo’s TikTok for a virtual afterparty where Jayda G will be spinning tunes against projections of nature via the Disney+ show, EarthMoods.
